Overview:

As the Purchase Ledger Supervisor you will report to the UK Group Financial Contoller and assume responsibility for managing the Accounts Payable function and supplier relations ensuring timely and accurate processing, as well as leading continuous improvement initiatives.  Based in Teesside, the successful candidate will be an experienced leader of the Accounts Payable team with a strong track record of improving operational efficiency and delivering high levels of service to the business in a fast-paced ever-changing environment.

You will be expected to demonstrate the appropriate behaviours and commitment towards health and safety to ensure we maintain our first-class safety culture. 

Responsibilities:

• Manage the Accounts Payable team to ensure that the end-to-end Accounts Payable function is run efficiently
• Manage the overall payables process, including ensuring that all activities are delivered and aligned to agreed service levels
• Ensure that working processes and procedures are appropriately documented, standardised, and modified in a controlled manner
• Manage supplier queries and escalate where necessary
• Monitor and manage the Accounts Payable email inbox and daily post
• Input, process and post invoices and credit notes onto SAP
• Perform and review Supplier Statement reconciliations
• Working with other teams in finance and the business to resolve issues to ensure timelines are met
• Actively monitor non-conformance to purchasing procedures highlighting and communicating these areas to the UK Group Financial Controller
• Analyse the team’s performance on a regular basis to ensure procedures are being adhered to
• Provide learning and development opportunities to team members, including personal development plans, and ensure company values are embedded
• Generate and produce reports on the Account Payable team and the overall Accounts Payable department performance
• Develop continuous improvement initiatives with the team

Requirements:

• Prior experience in managing and overseeing a team is essential
• Experience of SAP is required
• Strong attention to detail and good organisation and communication skills are essential
• Experience of process improvement and change management is a must
• Microsoft Excel experience including formulas and pivot tables is essential
• Energy industry experience would be ideal
• A full driving licence is required
• Right to work in the UK is essential
