The Company
Able Bridge Recruitment are working again with a highly regarded and forward thinking accountancy practice in the Scottish borders. Due to some internal movement, a permanent vacancy for an Audit team leader has arisen. The role will be based in one of the many office`s that our client has on either the south edge of Edinburgh, North East England or one of their Scottish Border offices. The successful incumbent will be reporting into the partner group and will be accountable (along with 3 other team leads), for 11 trainee accountants.
The Responsibilities
The principle responsibilities of this role will be to work within a widder accounting function but take the lead in the audit function. There are several trainee accountants who have been earmarked for the audit team and you will be accountable for growing the team and in time the business development exercise as well. Although approximately only 50% of your time will be spent on Audits, the rest of the time you will be involved in accounts preparation (minimal but there will be some), as well as managing a portfolio of client accounts.
On a day-to-day basis some of your responsibilities will be as follows;
You will be working within your peer group to ensure that all trainees are fully aware of the requirements of them.
Review and completion of the trainee files will form a proportion of your time.
Managing the Audit process of various clients throughout the year. Your portfolio will include but is not limited to; Retail businesses, charities, agricultural businesses and manufacturing facilities (national and international).
In the longer term, we are seeking an individual who can grow and develop this offering which will include the recruitment and retention of new staff members.
The Requirements
Applicants need to be fully conversant with UK audit requirements and hold a professional accounting qualification (CA/ACA/ACCA). We require individuals who are happy to be based in the office for the majority of the time, however there is some flexibility as to which office and how many days a week or weeks of the month. Our client understands that audit professionals are difficult to find, however one of the unique aspects of our client is that they will consider both part and full time, or even school term times with school holidays taken as extended holiday periods.
