Compensation: £30,220 + Benefits

Here at Babcock Education a fantastic opportunity has arisen and we’re looking to recruit either:

• An experienced, Qualified Teacher of the Deaf or,
• An outstanding teacher who is willing to commit to the 2 year Teacher of the Deaf training (Course fees paid for by Babcock LDP).

Who we are looking for?

The main purpose of your role will be to work as a member of the Sensory & Physical Team, consisting of Advisory Teachers, Advisory Deaf Inclusion Worker & Senior Sensory Advisor.

You be responsible for monitoring and teaching a caseload of children and young people aged 0-25 years who are deaf or have a hearing loss, across a range of different educational settings, including working in the home with parents/careers.

You need to be enthusiastic, motivated, forward thinking, flexible and have the ability to work independently and as part of the wider team

What will you be doing?

* Promote the successful inclusion and learning opportunities of CYP with hearing loss in mainstream schools and settings.
* Provide advice and training to schools to facilitate teachers addressing the particular educational needs of CYP who have hearing loss.
* Teaching & modelling good practice.
* Building capacity within schools through training and awareness raising.
* Work closely with class teachers, special needs co-ordinators and teaching assistants in schools to develop effective teaching strategies, adaptations and successful inclusion in relation to individuals and groups of CYP who are D&HI.

The experience you’ll bring

You will need to be qualified to Degree level or above with QTS.

You will also need the following:
* Qualified Teacher of the Deaf or willingness to undertake training if not qualified.
* Level 2 BSL or higher or willingness to undertake BSL level 1 and 2 if not qualified.
* Minimum three years’ experience of recent class teaching in a mainstream and/or special school.
* High quality teaching skills across a range of key stages & experience of working/teaching CYP with SEND.
* The successful candidate must be able to achieve the appropriate security clearance level for this role – Enhanced DBS with Children’s and Adults’ Barred List check and Teaching Regulation Agency checks.
* The role is mobile and you will be required to hold a Full driving licence and provide a vehicle for business use.

We would also like you to have relevant experience and understanding of the following:
* Statutory assessment process and Education Health & Care plans.
* Code of Practice (2014) & Disability Discrimination Act.
* Competent with IT – Word, Excel, Microsoft Teams.
