Are you an ex-military engineer with leadership experience? Would you like to work for a company who value the skills of ex-military engineers? Our client has a vacancy for an electrically biased Lead Engineer to join their team at their site in Chesterfield, Derbyshire. This is a brand-new site with warehouse automation equipment that is at the forefront of technology. The successful Lead Engineer will initially be responsible for establishing the new site, ensuring all machinery and departments are fully operational for the scheduled opening in 2024. Once the site is fully operational, the successful Lead Engineer will lead a small team of engineers and carry out planned preventative maintenance and repairs to the machinery on site.

This is a fantastic opportunity for candidates with an electrical engineering bias coupled with leadership/management experience who are leaving their military engineering career and are looking to join a company who offer a structured training programme with the opportunity to gain additional skills and qualifications as well as career progression.

Lead Engineer Responsibilities:
Responsible for setting up a brand-new site including stores department, engineering workshop and offices on customer site.
Ensure customer management is fully informed of maintenance and repairs on site.
Provide high standards of equipment reliability and technical systems availability.
Electrical and mechanical fault finding, repairs and PPM.
Responsible for spare parts levels, including usage, inventory levels, ordering and replenishment and receipts.

Lead Engineer Requirements:

• Must have completed a recognised apprenticeship and hold an Electrical qualification to a minimum of Level 3.
• Experience working on single and 3 phase systems.
• Have strong electrical fault finding and diagnostic experience.
• Previous PLC fault finding experience – beneficial.
• Hold mechanical skills, working with drives, gears, hydraulics, motors and compressed air systems.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical engineering diagrams, schematics and assembly drawings.
• IT Literate.

Lead Engineer Benefits:

• Salary is £49,000 including shift allowance.
• 8 hour shifts – initial 6 months you will work 8 hours between the hours of 6am – 6pm and then the shift will change to a rotating shift of 6am – 2pm/2pm – 10pm leading to day shift only once the team grows.
