Enoda Ltd Looking for Lead Mechanical Engineer – Energy at Edinburgh Full Time

We have an opportunity for a Lead Mechanical Engineer to join our rapidly expanding team in Edinburgh, developing emerging technology and innovative design.

This role will focus on energy systems, devices, machines, components, enclosures and interfaces, sharing responsibility for the design and delivery of all physical aspects of projects from concept, through to full commercialisation.

To address the key hurdles to net-zero, Enoda brings together a combination of sophisticated control and hardware designs with it’s Prime technology and HERA industrial installations, providing an end-to-end solution for grid stability, and the decarbonisation of combined heat and power (CHP) at the lowest marginal economic, environmental, and social cost.

You’ll spend your time

• Completing sophisticated conceptual designs based on functional and non-functional requirements in adherence with regional design codes (European market)
• Defining optimal design solutions, scoping and designing physical systems to be integrated with energy, information and control systems
• Undertaking scientific research and data acquisition to inform optimal design pathways
• Using simulation tools to produce high fidelity static and dynamic models of, but not limited to mechanical, acoustic, thermal, EMR and NVH characteristics
• Designing enclosures and footprint/ volume for British and European Electricity Distribution Operators
• Designing HVAC systems and fire suppression systems as required, working with insurance engineers
• Producing manufacturing and assembly drawings to agreed appropriate standards, on the basis of rapidly enabling manufacture at scale
• Designing inspection and testing plans and undertaking laboratory and field-based testing of systems in relationship to simulation and hardware
• Designing appropriate QA/QC systems
• Acting as a role model, mentor and guide team members and colleagues

Requirements

The key experience we’re looking for

• High level of competence in SolidWorks modelling and simulation packages, as well as 2D and 3D drawing for complex regulated systems
• Knowledge and expertise in the application of systems engineering and requirements analysis
• Experience in static and dynamic simulation modelling and analysis
• Previous experience in engineering elegant solutions on tight timescales and an understanding of predictive analytics in complex open systems
• High level of competence in SolidWorks modelling and simulation packages, as well as 2D and 3D drawing for complex regulated systems
• Working knowledge of metallurgy to assess component parts and material choice
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to communicate complex ideas along with systematic and logical problem-solving skills
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronic or equivalent degree
• 10+ years of relevant experience as a Mechanical Engineer in a related commercial field, with the ability to direct others
