Gloucestershire Race Equality Action Group (GREAG)
A member of South West Race Equality Action Group supported by Black South West Network
We are looking for two experienced Development Workers, with lived experience of racism and knowledge and a strong understanding of race equality, to build up our strong relationships within Black and Asian communities for Gloucestershire Race Equality Action Group. Activists, professionals, and lay members of the community have voluntarily established the organisation on a sound footing, including some resources to kickstart the organisation.
An exciting time to become a Development Worker of Gloucestershire Race Equality Action Group (GREAG) as we have a clear opportunity to establish this new organisation as the new voice for Black and racially minoritised communities in Gloucestershire.
The Development Worker will be a skilled networker, community organiser and with excellent people skills, bringing with him/her, at least 3 years of experience of community development experience in relevant settings, in working effectively with Black and racially marginalised communities, using an asset-based community development approach.
She/he will build GREAG’s community links as it becomes the go-to infrastructure body for race equality, for VCSE organisations and stakeholders alike, in Gloucestershire. She/he will already have strong relationships within Gloucestershire’s Black and Brown communities and be very familiar with the challenges they face.
The Development Worker will facilitate VCSE organisations to network, become informed about strategies and opportunities, and support them directly where possible with relevant assistance, especially on funding and development support.
Despite its infancy, the organisation has already secured funding for the next 18 months and built strong stakeholder relationships, who acknowledge the key role GREAG has to play locally, including with the Gloucestershire Race Equality Commission. GREAG is also well-connected regionally through South West Race Equality Action Group, led by Black South West Network, which can offer capacity-building support and advice to local groups.
We look forward to receiving a covering letter indicating why you are interested in the role and what you intend to bring to it, along with a CV of your employment history, track record and achievements by
15th August 2022 @ 12 noon.
