Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Assist with implementation and delivery of care programmes under the direction of the qualified staff.
Engage in one to one sessions and straightforward interventions, e.g. basic anxiety management, with identified patients and under the supervision of the nurse in charge.
Take responsibility for patient care and implementation of care plans as directed by the nurse in charge.
Participate in the planning and evaluation of the individual care programmed as directed by the nurse in charge.
Promote and support patients/clients’ rights, beliefs and choices whilst on the ward/department, taking into account issues of diversity and cultural needs.
Participate in ensuring that patients/clients are protected from any form of abuse.
Establish and maintain relationships with patients/clients, relatives, friends and other members of staff.
Support patients/clients to maintain their interests, identity and emotional well-being whilst receiving various forms of care, observing and reporting any changes in their condition, finance, environment etc. to the nurse in charge.
Contribute to the prevention and management of untoward incidents and the maintenance of security of the ward/ department and all personal belongings of staff, patients/clients and visitors.
