GSL Education – London Looking for ASC Teacher at Wandsworth Full Time

Pay Rate: £150 to £220 per day*
Location: Wandsworth, London
Start Date: January 2023
 
GSL Education is currently recruiting for a ASC Teacher across client schools located in Wandsworth. This is a great opportunity for you to develop your knowledge and skills in a particular area of SEN. The School promotes excellent learning behaviour for all its pupils with a core focus on fostering pupil resilience in its mainstream and specialist teaching settings; resultantly, pupils make exceptional progress irrespective of starting points.
These positions are open to those already with ASC Teaching experience, or those looking to take the leap into the SEN sector.
What it takes…
If you do not already have experience teaching in a SEN school or alternative provision, skills needed include:

• knowledge of teaching and the ability to design courses
• sensitivity and understanding
• patience and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations
• the ability to work well with others
• the ability to create the best conditions for learning or teaching new things
• to be flexible and open to change
• the ability to understand people’s reactions

Further training can be provided by the school for specific requirements such as Team Teach, Moving and Handling, Prevent and Autism Awareness.
Strong communication is key as you will need to liaise with internal and external staff including local authorities, specialist teaching services, medical staff, therapists, and psychologists.
 
To be successful, you must:

• Have UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
• Be able to quickly engage and build rapport with pupils through creative learning
• Hold an Enhanced Child Workforce DBS registered to the Update Service, or be willing to complete one through GSL Education. DBS application sponsorship available.
• Be effective at behaviour management linked to complex needs such as ASD, ADHD, SEMH or PMLD
• Be an enthusiastic, highly motivated individual who leads by example
