Experienced Teaching Assistant required for Ofsted rated ‘Good’ Secondary School in Southwark, South East London

Learning Mentor role available in Southwark, South East London

Rate: £80 – £110 per day depending on experience.

Your new company
Hays Education is currently working alongside Secondary School who been rated “Good” in their most recent Ofsted report and who are seeking for a dedicated and committed Learning Support Assistant to join their team as soon as possible. Candidate must have a desire to work 1:1 with students or in small groups within the KS3/KS4/KS departments. This role will start ASAP or from mid-February 2023 on a full-time basis and will continue for the rest of the academic year for the right candidate.

Your new role
The successful candidate will work 1:1 or in small groups with students offering them subjects’ learning support, personal care (if needed), classroom set up, extra curriculums, however in addition you might be asked to support SEN student to help them with their daily routine or social interactions. Experience working from tailored learning plan is beneficial but not essential as highly experienced colleagues are ready to offer their support and share their knowledge. Good knowledge of national curriculum is beneficial as you will be supporting students with various subjects.

What you’ll need to succeed
You must have proactive attitude, be ready to have hands on and hit the ground running from day one, eager to help and ready learn how to transfer your skills in to educational environment. Prior experience working in the Secondary School as well as knowledge of the national curriculum would be beneficial but not essential if you have some child related work or volunteer experience. Experience as mentor or tutor would be beneficial. DBS on update service would be helpful to start as soon as possible, but not essential. Must have positive attitude and be ready to support students and teacher at all times needed.
