I am recruiting for a major Public Sector organisation who are based in Sheffield and London, working on making financial markets more accessible for businesses across the UK.
Your new role

• You will be the primary contractor on finance matters for the Department of Business & Trade and other government departments.
• Ensuring accurate and timely reporting of the organisation’s financial performance with consideration of the organisation’s stewardship of public funds, its efficient and effective use of budgets
• Ensuring that government standards for financial management and reporting are understood and observed across the organisation
• Identify opportunities to improve HMG relationships and how these are managed
• Develop effective working relationships with HMG colleagues and be recognised as the primary finance contact
• Review, analyse and report month-end results to board and government partners
• Chair monthly working group meetings, determine the appropriate agenda, provide variance analysis and commentary on performance vs budget.
• Maintain and update the government accounting guidelines as applied to the organisation for new and existing products
• Support wider teams to comply with ‘managing public money’ and other relevant public sector finance guidance
• Track implementation of relevant audit recommendations and identification of financial governance improvements
• Support colleagues by reviewing proposals and business cases to ensure that th financial implications for government are considered
• Identify ways to improve relationships, policy compliance and reporting processes.

What you’ll need to succeed

• Experience of producing accurate financial analysis and reports for stakeholders
• Experience of managing senior stakeholders, including Finance Directors and strategy and policy teams
• A professional accounting qualification
• Experience in Finance Business Partnering
• Experience of financial product analysis
