Audit Specialist – About the Role
As an Audit Specialist, you will be responsible for conducting all client audits. Initially you will be heavily involved in planning and completing audits as well as undertaking audit testing, assisted by junior staff, so that you gain a full understanding of the clients. You will be responsible for providing training and helping to develop junior staff so that they can take on the more routine aspects of audits, allowing you to step back and review work and consider the more complex aspects which arise.
The structure of this firm means that you will also be involved in growing the audit function and will be involved in a number of projects to develop the firm’s audit offering. This role provides ample opportunity to develop your client facing skills and provide a key service to clients.
The successful Audit Specialist will have
An accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) or due to qualify within 12 months
3+ years’ experience working within an accountancy practice
Experience of working as a senior member of an Audit team ideally including experience supervising or managing a team
Working knowledge of bookkeeping, management accounts, statutory accounts and finance processes
A positive attitude, who loves problem solving and working as part of a growing and successful team Strong computer skills, including significant experience in Excel
Excellent client service skills, including the ability to build trust and rapport quickly
Experience with cloud accounting systems (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks)
Experience using Mercia based audit programmes ideally
