Just Food Recruitment Looking for Commercial Accountant (FTC) at Thatcham Full Time

Just Food Recruitment, part of The JFR Group, is recruiting for a Commercial Accountant on a year’s fixed-term maternity contract to work for a food manufacturer in the Berkshire area.

Purpose

You will ensure the delivery and ongoing development of the commercial objectives of the business through targeted support and continuing challenge of the commercial, marketing and NPD functions. The Commercial Accountant will champion continuous improvement of processes employed by the business to deliver effective and efficient solutions.

Responsibilities & Duties:

• Provide targeted and relevant commercial reports aligned to agreed business objectives.
• Manage the production of a detailed commercial forecast and ensure completeness and accuracy
• Provide assistance to the commercial and marketing teams to formulate plans to address trading gaps for accounts and categories
• Lead the development of promotion performance evaluation (Pre and Post)
• Work with the commercial marketing and NPD teams in setting targets, both commercial and financial to drive continuous improvement
• Future new launches support such as business cases, what-if scenarios, projections, trend analysis and post-launch reviews
• Undertake ad-hoc analysis to address specific business issues as appropriate
• To assist in the development of commercial trading terms, including joint business plans and standard pricing structure.
• Review financial terms (price, trading terms, discounts, JBPs) prior to customer presentation.
• Review proposed pricing and promotional activity prior to customer presentation.
• Ensure any customer specific and marketing spend is accurately recorded and reported.
• Responsible for accruals in line with signed trading agreements.
• Responsible for the accuracy of all costing data held within ERP system
• Responsible for the maintenance of the system to ensure production of accurate costings for all new product development
• Responsibility for the upload and maintenance of budgets/projections into sales reporting tools
• Agreeing budgets and plans with commercial team ensuring alignment to five-year strategic plan
• Ensure that sales reporting tools are complete and accurate
• Work closely with the Head of Finance to ensure “right first time” data integrity and financial reporting
• Continually challenge the existing reporting methods, using best in class techniques and ensuring we are at the forefront of analytical advances to give our commercial team a competitive advantage
• Lead the business in appropriate new ways of commercially focused process development
• Working with the sales, marketing and NPD teams to deliver the Budget and implement the commercial five-year strategy
• Focus the commercial team on long term profitability and brand development targets
• Supporting the sales, marketing and NPD teams to understand key business drivers
• Proactively engage with the business. Take new ideas/data out to the teams
• Ensure cross functional and business communication to deliver a co-ordinated approach.
• Attendance at key meetings giving support and challenge as appropriate
• Develop a learning team of talented individuals with a challenging, continuous improvement mind-set
• Business partnering or sales/profitability analysis

Person Specification

• Previously worked in a commercially focussed role and/or FMCG.
• Strong commercial focus and awareness.
• Ability to drive an environment of continuous improvement.
