Your New Role
National Highways have an excellent opportunity for an Assistant Project Manager within our Operations Directorate to provide a support for central lead and management of improvement projects and governance, including supporting the development of our future strategy, efficiency, performance and project plans
The roles sit in the Operations Portfolio and Performance Group within the Business Transformation and Performance Division, led by the Head of Operations Governance. This group supports the wider Operations Directorate to manage and report on its business as usual activity, to explore and adopt new initiatives, and to develop and deliver a 5-year programme of work activity in excess of £10.5bn, including the development and delivery of the Operations Roads Investment Strategy (RIS3) case.
Within this group there are numerous projects ongoing at any one time delivering a wide range of enhancements, service improvements or developing capability. This role will be to take projects from conception, through delivery and transfer into steady state. Delivering multiple projects at any one time this is a vital role ensuring Operations is constantly developing and remains fit for the future.
You will be required to work closely with managers and internal / external stakeholders to discuss their projects and to understand their vision, timescales and outcomes, communicating effectively across our Programme. Your ability to influence and challenge effectively will be essential. To be successful in these roles you will have to be a committed team member working across many parts of Operations and wider within the business.
This is a full time, permanent position primarily based in our Birmingham office, with occasional travel between all our offices across the country. Applications from people based in other offices will also be considered.
