One to One Recruitment Looking for Mechanical Fitter at York Full Time

We are once again proud to be working exclusively with IQ Engineers, a York based family run business which has a trusted reputation with all of its customer. They require a Mechanical Fitter to support their small engineering team (4 people) to provide dedicated mechanical support to a range of water treatment customers and contractors. If successful, you will be part of an experienced, friendly and down to earth team with a sense of humour!

As a Mechanical Fitter your role will involve:

• Picking up a work pack which includes risk assessments, method statements, maps, equipment from the York office
• Driving to the client site with your work colleague (you could be on site for a day or a week depending on location)
• Undertaking the necessary site inductions
• Carrying out the necessary mechanical plant work which could be anything from steel valves for a reservoir to working at a local school servicing pump systems – the work is varied!
• Thinking in a lateral way to resolve issues when equipment doesn’t quite fit the need
• Writing end of job site summaries, checksheets etc.
• Attending meetings online
• Occasionally working at York to undertake some building of parts in the workshop and delivering parts

To secure this Mechanical Fitter position you will need as a minimum the below:

• Friendly and amiable character who works well in a small team (e.g. working in pairs)
• Experience of mechanical fitting in any environment as training can be provided
• Experienced in the use of hand tools in a safe and compliant manner
• Comfortable working in confined spaces (at times) or at height (not more than 20 metres)
• Happy to work away from home as required (Mon to Fri only)
• Read CAD drawings (desirable but not essential)
• Full driving licence
• Be prepared to have a DBS check ( for working on school premises) and MOD check (for related sites)

Hours:

• Mon to Friday – 8 hours per day (plus you will get paid for travel time to and from your home). Starting between 8am/9am and finishing at 5pm
