Applications Engineer (technical support- non-sales)
to £50k neg dep exp
West Midlands(Commutable from Dudley, Stourbridge, Kingswinford and West Bromwich)
Our West Midlands based client has been established for almost half a century and are recognised internationally as market leaders in the provision of niche manufacturing solutions to a diverse range of industry sectors. As a result of continued success and an ongoing programme of exciting and strategic growth, they are now seeking to recruit an experienced, technically proficient and articulate Applications Engineer to complement their dynamic and professional team.
Based near Dudley and working as part of the Applications Engineer team, the successful candidate will be tasked with providing a high level of engineering advice and technical support to the Sales function, liaising closely with clients in order to fully understand their bespoke requirements and ensuring these are translated into functional and commercially viable engineering options and solutions.
Able to demonstrate excellent communication skills at all levels, you will be skilled in reading and creating technical CAD drawings (Inventor) and performing complex engineering calculations, whilst liaising closely with all relevant internal departments as well as external customers and suppliers to ensure that all Sales Specifications are technically correct and associated supporting technical documentation is created.
Other duties will include (but not be limited to):
To be considered for this varied and technically challenging role you will demonstrate exceptional communication and relationship building skills with colleagues and both new and existing customers alike, maintaining contact for the duration of projects and beyond, and will be able to work alongside other departments to produce viable and compliant designs in accordance with ISO9000 and 27000 systems. It is envisaged that the successful candidate will also demonstrate a relevant engineering degree (or equivalent) in a mechanical or manufacturing engineering discipline.
As there is already a successful sales and new business development team in place, there genuinely is no sales “target” for this role, and the position will best suit an articulate and technical applications engineer who demonstrates a positive and professional approach and who can resolve technical issues and create innovative bespoke solutions in line with often complex customer specifications, and there may be occasions requiring travel to customer sites to discuss technical features and benefits and provide support to the sales team, so a full UK driving licence and valid passport are essential for the position.
