Our client has been established for almost 60 years and are the UK’s leading manufacturer of innovative solutions allied to their niche sector industry, supplying an array of customers and industry sectors throughout the world. As a result of continued success and an ongoing programme of strategic growth, they are now seeking to recruit an experienced and proactive shift Mechanical maintenance engineer to complement their existing professional team.
Based in Moreton-In-Marsh and reporting to the Engineering Manager, the successful candidate will essentially demonstrate previous experience and positive achievements gained within a busy engineering or manufacturing maintenance environment and will undertake a range of both PPM and reactive breakdown and repair activities within a fast-paced production environment.
Working on a rotating shift basis – Monday to Thursday 8am to 7.15pm and 7.15pm to 6.30am respectively, the successful candidate will support and work closely with the Engineering Manager and fellow engineers on a range of engineering projects and the maintenance of plant and equipment to ensure smooth and continuous operation of plant and equipment.
You will respond to both mechanical and electrical (drives and controls) breakdowns, undertaking prompt fault diagnosis and repair as well as performing routine and planned preventative maintenance as required, contributing towards improved equipment reliability and optimization as well as assisting in the development of maintenance strategies and also assisting with PAT testing where required, and you will also be involved in machinery refurbishment projects and ongoing continuous improvement activities as required.
Other duties for this exciting mechanical maintenance engineer position will include (but not be limited to) addressing Engineering Job Requests that are allocated to you as tasks and managing various projects, whilst liaising with other departments to minimise disruption to production and undertaking the procurement of replacement parts and spares as necessary. You will also organise and liaise with contractors as required and plan and undertake the smooth execution of maintenance activities and shutdowns as required.
To be considered for this varied and challenging mechanical maintenance engineer role it is envisaged that the successful candidate will be qualified to C&G / HNC or above in a relevant Mechanical engineering discipline and demonstrate at least 5 years previous experience of working within a busy manufacturing or engineering maintenance function with proven welding and fabrication skills and a high level of IT literacy to enable the creation of reports using Word and Excel.
