You will join our Impact Assessment department
As one of our Senior EIA Consultants you will be part of our UK Impact Assessment team, which forms part of our broader Global Impact Assessment Spearhead. The Spearhead has been established to drive further growth and specialisation in Impact Assessment, building on our existing successes through a continued focus on national impact assessment work, alongside targeting large, strategic projects – no matter where they occur, either within our existing geographic strongholds or beyond.
Our Impact Assessment teams are currently working on some of the largest and most challenging projects in the UK and are involved from the early feasibility stages through to planning submission and condition discharge, into construction and post construction monitoring. Our clients include UK and global multi-nationals, utilities, property developers, local and central government. You will be working across a breadth of major projects and programmes, anything from High Speed 2 and British Antarctic Survey framework, to National Highways and various local authorities and contractors.
Your key tasks and responsibilities will be:
- Managing and co-ordinating environmental and multi-disciplinary EIA project teams
- Attendance at client and stakeholder meetings and public consultation exercises
- Preparation of desk-based reporting, assessment, and analysis
- Site and client office visits
- Report writing, drafting of ES chapters and reviewing of technical reports
- Coordination and management of the Impact Assessment process and preparation of Environmental Statements and Addenda
- Budget management
- Coaching & mentoring more junior staff

- Appropriate degree in environmental sciences, environmental engineering or a related discipline
- Master’s degree in an environmental discipline (advantageous but is not essential)
- Prior EIA project management experience on complex projects, ideally including Development Consent Orders, T&C Planning, etc
- Member of a relevant professional body such as Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment, Institution of Environmental Sciences etc. and preferably Chartered Environmentalist (or working towards it)
Personal qualities that will help you succeed in this role include:
- Demonstratable collaborative approach
- Ability to work successfully across the business and with internal and external sub-consultants in the delivery of a consistent EIA approach and reporting style
- Well organised and able to prioritise your own workload with minimal supervision and manage the team in completing high quality reports and documents to meet programme requirements
- Experience of being client facing, including managing and developing client relationships and contributing to business development would be a benefit
