Compliance & Partnership Accountant- Leading London Top 100 Law FirmOur client, a leading, Top 100 Law firm is looking for an enthusiastic Compliance & Partnership Accountant to join their team based in London. Reporting into the Head of Partnership Tax & Accounting (Finance Department) this role carries with it the responsibility of general routine accounting practices as well as supporting the practice partners with their tax assessments.
What will you be doing?
You will be assisting the Firm’s partners in the following ways:- Drawings (prepare yearly schedule, pay monthly and post journal as required)- Distributions (Calculate and prepare schedule, arrange payments, post journal entries, etc)- Pension Loans (arrange payments to loans, reconcile loans to ensure payments are correct)- Partnership Reconciliation Statements- Assist with Tax matters (ensure partners tax returns are filled on time, prepare tax payments and ensure they are paid, post yearend tax payment/reserve journals, pay July payment on account on time, calculate tax reserve for LLP profit before and after bonus, calculate tax reserve for Serco dividend- Reconciliations (Year End journal of current account, Yearend journal of drawings, reconcile profit reconciliation statements to management accounts and nominals when distribution paid, update and reconcile profit reconciliation statements to HMRC SA100, prepare pivot table of partners nominals for tax returns)- Assist with evidence of earnings letters- Maintain MBPS spreadsheet- Prepare partner performance stats for reviews- Prepare stats for partnership candidates- Prepare stats for partner promotions- Currently monitor EFM insurance payments and ensure paid each month- Liaise with HR on partner medical and life insurance costs and post to current accounts
– Deputy COFA- Prepare the monthly bank reconciliations for COFA to sign- Maintain breach register- Lead on the Solicitors accounts rules audit- Assist with SRA audit queries from partners/ FEs/ compliance/ finance- Member of Risk committeePersonal Attributes & Skills
– Qualified accountant and experience in the legal sector or a partnership environment would be useful- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills- Organised manner with ability to prioritise workload- Confident and ability to interact with the partnership in particular- Self-motivated individual who can work independently with a proactive approach- Ability to work within a small and busy team- Good attention to detail. Accurate and thorough.
