As an Outage Planner you will be a key member of the Strategic planning department working on the safe, high quality, timely and within budget devilry of the stations shut down maintenance periods. Working as part of a team you will prepare outage plans and ensure that resources, spares and plant realise is organised. During the outage execution, you will monitor progress with outage delivery.
This role is key to the successful delivery of the Multimillion pound outage projects and as such is stimulating and rewarding.
Nature and Scope
An outage is a period during which a power station is shutdown for refuelling and/or essential maintenance. The Outage team coordinate preparation and delivery of several types of outages; statutory (3 yearly mandatory inspection and maintenance shutdowns),
All outages represent significant lost output and a key opportunity to invest in the plant. This role provides an opportunity to be part of the team that contributes huge business benefit.
The role involves liaising with groups across the station, notably with Engineering, Maintenance, Operations and Supply Chain to develop and maintain logic linked & resourced execution plans for activities during outages.
Principal Accountabilities
1. Develop fully logic linked and resourced level 3 (task) plan for specific plant areas, review historic similar plans to identify differences and review these with appropriate Station departments.
2. Integrate all activities in a given plant area, review logic & resource conflicts and;
· Match work scope to available resource
· Group work permit boundaries with SAP
· Co-ordinate use of common services & facilities within plant areas
3. Identify interactions and conflicts between activities across other concurrent plans and adjust plan logic and resourcing accordingly
4. Manage changes to plans due to ‘Scope Change’ during preparation phase and include details of contingency activities for foreseeable risks
5. Maintain plans during outage execution phase by updating progress, tracking critical path, building in and managing the impact of emergent work and identifying any errors / improvements required in the plan
6. Working with Operations to check and revise plans to maintain Tech Spec and other compliance requirements and to maximise ‘Defence in Depth’
7. Provide outage reports as requested
8. Play a role in post outage reviews, in particular by capturing all relevant OPEX from plan delivery and building the learning into future plans
9. Provide support to Lead Planner / Outage Co-ordinator
10. Identify and help to deliver outage optimisation opportunities
11. Support activities to deliver Pre Outage Milestone Plans (POMP) for both statutory and off load refuelling outages
12. Liaise with Work Management team to ensure that pre and post outage work is identified and delivered as required to support successful outages.
Essential
Experience in working in a technical or planning role
Experience in the control and delivery of work in an industrial environment
Knowledge of basic planning principles
Able to coordinate across different team and with different companies and contractors
Excellent written and verbal communication skill
Desirable
Experience of project or major maintenance planning or management
Experience in the UK Nuclear Industry
Knowledge of planning software – Ideally Primavera P6
Formal qualification in a Technical/Planning or project management subject
