Skills for Care is looking for experienced Trustees to join the Board
Skills for Care is the strategic workforce development and planning body for adult social care in England. We work with employers, Government, and partners to ensure social care has the right people, skills, and support required to deliver the highest quality care and support, now and in the future. We respond and adapt to the emerging trends and needs within social care, using data and evidence to drive forward widescale change. We provide best practice, tools, resources, and intelligence to support workforce recruitment, capabilities, and culture.
These are challenging times for the adult social care sector and for Skills for Care but with the scale of reform it is also a potentially exciting time. We are seeking to appoint two new trustees to the Board who have a proven ability to provide robust strategic oversight to the organisation, provide support and challenge to the Leadership Team, ensure good governance and rigorously monitor the company’s performance. We are particularly looking for experts in equality, diversity and inclusion and individuals with experience leading in a commercial organisation.
Experience of the adult social care sector is obviously helpful but not essential. We’re looking for people who share our aspiration to create a skilled and knowledgeable workforce capable of delivering high quality care and support to people in our communities.
We are committed to increasing the diversity of our Board and welcome applications from all individuals. We welcome applications from people with lived experience of adult social care services. Appointment will be based on merit.
You will need to be available to attend four board meetings a year, plus an annual strategy day with a similar number of committee meetings (currently virtual). The position is unremunerated but expenses are paid for meetings that will be held in London or at our Leeds head office.
