FMCG Buyer

Our client is a leading FMCG Distributor and we are delighted to assist them in their search for an experienced Buying / Purchasing professional, as they look to recruit a Buyer to join their existing buying / purchasing team at their flagship distribution site in Newhaven, East Sussex.

The successful candidate will be looking after the purchasing for the chilled and non-food part of the business. Currently managing 120 lines over around 40 different suppliers. This role will be perfect for someone who has some buying experience and would like to accelerate into the food industry.

As Buyer, you will be responsible for:

• Raising the purchase orders for the chilled part of the business
• Raising the purchase orders for the ‘non-food’ items of the business
• Liaise with suppliers via the phone and email.
• Chase overdue purchase orders to ensure none of the product lines go out of stock
• Liaise and assist with goods in and help with any booking queries they may have
• Cleanse and ensure the system is accurate and up to date
• Assisting with invoice queries to ensure the invoice is correct to the purchase orders
• Ensure pricing is kept up to date in the system
• Ensure supplier feedback is delt with in a timely manner
• Ad-hoc duties may be required throughout the week

As Buyer, it is essential that you have the following experience / qualities:

• Previous Buying / Purchasing experience as a Buyer
• A Good relationship builder
• A Positive attitude
• Computer literate, proficient with outlook and excel

Desirable but not essential experience in the role:

• Food industry background
• Sage 200 experience
