The Population Data Science department is a cutting edge research centre specialising in secure linked data analysis of health and other administrative data sources. We are looking for a talented individual with a legal background to join to our team to help foster new and innovative research projects. We are looking for someone who has a passion for innovation and developing technology and who enjoys the challenge of problem solving in a positive team environment.
This role is a new role and the post holder will help the department develop its legal capacity and equip us with the skills we need to grow our services. We are looking for an individual who can work with the Head of Legislation and Due Diligence in ensuring legality of operations and managing the needs of the department and external stakeholders. The post holder will play an important role delivering legal and associated compliance work that underpins the operation of the department including developing data sharing documents and delivering training on data protection.
Main Duties of the Job
The Person
You will need to have a law degree. A postgraduate qualification or a higher degree in law would be beneficial. A background in data protection law or legal compliance within the academic, public or health sector is also desirable. Experience of drafting or negotiating contracts/legal documents or data sharing agreements is also essential along with the ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders. Experience in delivering training in data protection or another area of law would be an advantage.
