Just OT are recruiting for an experienced HCPC Registered Occupational Therapist , to work with our well-respected client based in Leicestershire
Location – Glenfield
Work with citizens to ensure they are empowered to lead and self-direct their services, offering advice, education, coping strategies and therapeutic procedures on reablement, lifestyle changes and adaptations to their environment and hence increase their independence through;
a. demonstrating understanding and implications of manual handling legislation and current best practice, https://freejobposting.uk/submit-resume/ing this knowledge in delivering therapeutic manual handling.
b. providing aids to daily living and specialist disability equipment, offering instruction and training on use of the equipment or other techniques to optimise the patient’s functional ability, independence and safety
c. assessing and advising on the need for structural adaptations and other works to citizens’ homes of older/disabled people, make recommendations concerning the works required to meet individual requirements, and referring to Senior Occupational Therapists for Disabled Facilities Grant works to be considered
Identify, investigate and manage potential safeguarding, mental capacity, continuing health care and other high risk situations where citizens’ safety or liberty may be at risk, referring up as appropriate so as to enable citizens to take risks whilst protecting them from abuse, managing the risks to staff and the Council
Ensure high quality outcome-based responses to all citizens eligible for social care services by;
d. providing appropriate responses or referrals within required timescales, organisational, policy and legislative requirements including the reimbursement legislation and eligibility guidelines
e. providing prompt support to meet immediate risks and needs in crisis situations
f. carrying out a specialist OT assessment to support the citizen’s self-assessment of need, working in partnership with colleagues in health and other partner agencies to contribute to multi-disciplinary assessments as required
g. seeking advice from other relevant professionals to inform analysis and reasoning where appropriate and when more complex needs or situations become apparent.
h. ensure that responses are geared to citizens’ ethnic, religious, cultural and linguistic background, practicing in a manner and delivering services which are in all respects anti-discriminatory
i. that concerns and complaints are responded to and are addressed by making appropriate changes to existing practices
Promote independence and facilitate solutions, providing practical, person-centred assistance for citizens, their family/carer and their support network to:
j. assess and review their own risks and needs and hence determine the allocated personal budget
k. design and cost a mutually-agreed best value support plan to meet agreed outcomes
l. identify community and other natural support resources, hence maximising their assets using benefits, preventative/universal services and other funding sources
m. liaise and negotiate with local providers, support networks, and other resources
n. access, use and review their services, including the effective use of direct payments and the safe use of equipment and adaptations in compliance with relevant legislation, policy and guidelines on safe working practices.
o. identify and implement positive solutions in resolving any conflicts between all parties involved
p. arrange, implement and review support plans if requested by the citizen, and providing intensive support if they require it to start activities or test new services
q. refer to the line manager unresolved support and service issues, including
i. cases where it appears that outcomes to meet needs cannot be delivered by the personal budget allocated
ii. lack of availability of suitable services
iii. local providers’ apparent failure to meet national or locally determined quality or performance standards
