About the role
UCL’s Open Access Team delivers open access services for all UCL academics. These services enable academics to make their work open access by depositing in UCL Discovery, UCL’s institutional repository, in compliance with the REF and UCL open access policies; and, where required, to arrange Gold open access in compliance with research funders’ policies (including COAF and the UK Research Councils).
This is a permanent part time post. The work pattern to be confirmed with line manager upon appointment. Working in a small team, the postholder will process research publications deposited to UCL Discovery in accordance with publishers’ policies and copyright requirements, liaise with publishers and academics on issues about their publications, and confirm the successful submission of doctoral-level theses in order for degrees to be awarded
About you
Key requirements for this post include an awareness of open access issues; excellent IT skills (including MS Office) and effective communication skills in explaining complex policies and processes; the ability to work methodically, effectively and accurately, whether independently or as part of a team, and the ability to organise their own workload; and the ability to provide a high level of service and provide new skills.
Desirable requirements include familiarity with entering bibliographic metadata, using bibliographic indexing and abstracting databases and electronic journals, an understanding of copyright legislation as it relates to open access, and experience of answering enquiries in an academic library environment.
This is a remote-first role. The role holder will be expected to work a minimum of one day per fortnight on campus.
