The Hinton group has an international reputation for the study of functional genomics and pathogenesis of *Salmonella* bacteria, and Professor Hinton has a strong track record of developing the CVs of researchers in his group. We are looking for two experienced and enthusiastic molecular microbiologists to join a Wellcome Trust-funded project to determine how African *Salmonella* bacteria survive and replicate during infection of human cells.
You will design and execute functional genomic experiments that involve large-scale RNA-seq-based transcriptomics and global transposon mutagenesis to discover how African *S.* Typhimurium/*S.* Enteritidis isolates thrive inside human macrophages.
You will have previously played a key role in a research project involving *Salmonella* or another bacterium, and have excellent communication skills. This post will suit an ambitious scientist with an interest in bacterial virulence and a relevant PhD, who is keen to work in a team environment.
The post is available until 30th November 2025, with the possibility of an extension.
