Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer (Complex electro-mechanical systems and instrumentation), £35k – £45k + excellent package, Cambridge area.
Responsibilities:
Hands-on Mechanical design of the company’s bespoke special purpose scientific equipment.
Creation of detailed models and drawings suitable for manufacture
New product R&D supported by a strong team of experienced Engineers
Defining and executing Test Plans
FMEA and risk analysis reports
Project Management and acting as mentor to junior staff
Projects are conducted at both Group and local levels so occasional travel is expected
The Candidate
This role is suitable for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer with a solid background in CAD based mechanical design for high value, low volume complex electro-mechanical systems and instrumentation. Your likely background will have come from working in one or some of these sectors: Scientific Instruments, Semiconductor, Ceramics, Medical Devices, Healthcare systems, Pharmaceutical machinery, laboratory, industrial automation, instrumentation, environmental Instrumentation, Plasma Coatings, high vacuum systems, PECVD, MOCVD, CVD systems, etc)
As Mechanical Design Engineer, your skills, experience and qualifications will need to include several of the following:
Degree ( BEng or MEng ) in Mechanical Engineering or similar/equivalent qualification/experience
3D CAD design experience (ideally ProE / Creo or Solidworks or similar)
Knowledge of material science would be beneficial
Experience developing complex assemblies, some hands on assembly and testing experience
Experience in vacuum systems, pneumatics, gas systems, automation an advantage.
Professional registration with a relevant Engineering body encouraged and preferred.
PC literate (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc)
Accurate, thorough, consistent, pro-active, assertive but definitely a team player
Good written and verbal communication skills
